How to Sign Your First Client: A Detailed Step-by-Step Guide
Signing your first client is the hardest and most important step of your business.
With the right plan, this step can be much easier for you.
Here’s a simple guide on how to sign your first client.
Step 1.
Identify your ideal client, and who you want to target. Later go to Linkedin.com and search for companies within your industry. Find the employees to see who makes the decisions in the company (managers, directors, etc.)
Step 2.
Go to linkedin and join networking groups about your niche (e.g. Digital Marketing Professionals) and build your reputation by being active and engaging on posts.
Go to reddit and join subreddits relevant to your niche (e.g. r/Entrepreneur r/smallbusiness). Keep engaging in the posts and build up your Karma score alongside your reputation.
Step 3.
Clearly address what you’re offering in the groups in a non-irritable way. Create posts to attract people in a discussion, and market your offer in the discussion. Ask for people’s feedbacks, show your portfolio and get some eyes on what you’re offering. On Linkedin, you can send personalized messages to people and pitch your offer in a formal way.
Step 4.
Start offering people free consultation and free trials to build up your portfolio and referrals from them. Contact people you’ve networked with on Linkedin and offer them free consultations. On Reddit, a lot of people are already seeking advice, so engage with them and give them free value before you ask anything from them.
Step 5.
Use emails to follow-up with potential clients and keep them engaged in your offer, you can use a tool such as MailTrack to monitor the mails. Continue engaging on groups on Linkedin and Reddit and keep repeating the steps.
